Parkview Residential Home is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and creative Activity Coordinator to join our team.
Previous experience working as an Activity Coordinator within a care home or similar adult social care setting is essential.
This is not simply a role arranging entertainment or group activities. We are looking for someone who understands person-centred meaningful activity and can show how activities link to each resident's individual interests, life history, goals and wellbeing.
Your role will include:
- Planning and delivering meaningful group and one-to-one activities
- Getting to know each resident's interests, hobbies, history and aspirations
- Using residents' life plans to help plan meaningful activities
- Supporting residents to maintain previous hobbies and interests
- Creating opportunities for new experiences
- Organising outings and maintaining links with the local community
- Building relationships with local churches, groups and organisations
- Adapting activities for different abilities and needs
- Encouraging choice, independence and involvement
- Planning ahead and maintaining an engaging activity programme
- Recording activities clearly, including the resident's involvement, response and outcome
- Reviewing activities and using outcomes to plan what happens next
- Working closely with residents, relatives, key workers and the wider care team
Essential:
- Previous Activity Coordinator experience within a care home or adult social care setting
- Good understanding of person-centred care
- Experience planning both group and individual activities
- Ability to evidence meaningful outcomes for residents
- Good written communication and documentation skills
- Confident planning outings and community involvement
- Creative, organised and able to use your own initiative
- Genuine enthusiasm for spending time with older people
We want someone who will ask "What matters to this person?", not simply "What activity can we put on today?"
At Parkview, meaningful activity could be supporting someone to follow their lifelong football team, reconnect with their faith, continue an old hobby, visit somewhere important to them, spend time with animals or achieve something they thought they could no longer do.
We want our residents to have purpose, choice, relationships, experiences and things to look forward to — and we need an experienced Activity Coordinator who can help make that happen.
