As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, balanced, and appetising meals for residents while ensuring high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness are maintained at all times. You will support residents’ health and wellbeing by providing meals that meet individual dietary needs, preferences, cultural requirements, and nutritional standards.
The role involves maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment, monitoring food stock, and working closely with the care team to ensure residents receive an enjoyable dining experience in a safe and welcoming environment.
Working Schedule
M&B Care Group operates a two-week rolling rota.
- Day shifts: 07:00 - 14:00
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve meals and snacks in line with menus, dietary requirements, IDDSI, and nutritional guidelines
- Ensure meals are prepared to a high standard and presented in an appetising manner
- Cater for special dietary needs, allergies, cultural preferences, and modified diets as required
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety in line with food safety regulations
- Ensure correct food storage, stock rotation, and temperature checks are completed and recorded
- Monitor kitchen supplies and report low stock levels or ordering requirements
- Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
- Dispose of waste safely and appropriately following infection control and health & safety procedures
- Work collaboratively with care staff to ensure residents’ individual needs and preferences are met
- Support residents to enjoy a positive dining experience and respond respectfully to feedback
- Maintain accurate records including food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and delivery checks
- Report any equipment faults, hazards, accidents, or concerns promptly
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times
- Attend mandatory training, supervision sessions, and staff meetings
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, food hygiene, and GDPR requirements
- Maintain professional conduct and positive working relationships with residents, visitors, and colleagues
- Respect residents’ dignity, independence, cultural needs, and personal preferences at all times
