While our core focus is on high-standard domestic installations, we are actively expanding into the commercial sector.
We are currently looking for a skilled, safety-conscious Roofer with Solar PV experience to join our growing team.
The Role
As a Solar Roofer, you will be an essential part of our installation team, responsible for safely and efficiently mounting solar panels and associated roof-level components. You will ensure works are carried out to the highest standard, in line with supplied system designs, health & safety regulations, and building codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Solar PV Installation: Safely and accurately install Solar PV mounting systems, flashings, and panels primarily on domestic roofs, with occasional commercial projects.
- System Layout & Stringing: Set out and string solar panels in strict accordance with the provided schematic designs.
- DC Cabling: Run, secure, and connect DC cabling down to the inverter location/containment safely and neatly.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all health and safety procedures, particularly regarding working at height, scaffolding, and harness use.
- Site & Roof Inspection: Assess roof integrity prior to work, identifying any pre-existing weather damage or structural issues.
- Quality Assurance & Sign-off: Gather clear photo evidence of every installation stage and complete all required sign-off paperwork in line with contract requirements.
- Van Stock & Equipment Management: Ensure installation vans are properly restocked with the required fixings, brackets, and materials before heading to site.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Roofing Experience: Minimum 1 year of roofing experience (Required).
- Solar PV Installation Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands-on Solar PV roof-mounting experience (Required).
- Driving Licence: Valid UK manual driving licence with 6 points or fewer (Required).
- Willingness to Travel: Must be willing and able to travel across the South West region daily (Taunton to Land’s End).
- Safety Awareness: Strong working knowledge of working-at-height practices and safety equipment (Working at Height / PASMA / CSCS certifications are advantageous).
- Attention to Detail: Pride in tidy, compliant, and watertight workmanship.
- Team Player: Reliable, punctual, and comfortable communicating with customers on-site.
