We are looking for an experienced and reliable Groundworks Operative to join our growing team, working on high-quality residential developments in and around the Wirral and Cheshire area.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the early stages of construction, carrying out all aspects of groundwork from site preparation through to foundations. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who takes pride in producing high-quality work, works safely, and can operate machinery confidently.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating excavators, dumpers and rollers safely and efficiently.
- Excavating and preparing foundations and footings.
- Setting out and digging trenches.
- Laying concrete for foundations and slabs.
- Drainage installation and associated groundwork.
- Site preparation, levelling and grading.
- Working from site drawings and instructions.
- Carrying out daily checks on plant and equipment.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Assisting with all aspects of the groundworks package as required.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in groundworks on residential or commercial developments.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Relevant CPCS or NPORS operator tickets for excavators, dumpers and rollers.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong understanding of health and safety on construction sites.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- High standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience working on new-build housing developments.
- Ability to read drawings and set out works.
- Additional plant tickets or qualifications.
- First Aid at Work qualification (advantageous).
