We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Group Financial Controller to join our expanding group of companies. This is a newly created role that offers the opportunity to play a key part in shaping the finance function as the business continues to grow.
This is a varied, hands-on position that combines responsibility for the day-to-day finance operations of one of our subsidiaries with wider group financial reporting and commercial support. Working closely with the Group Finance Director, you will help deliver accurate financial reporting, improve processes, strengthen financial controls, and provide valuable insight to support business performance.
Initially, you will work alongside our established finance team to gain a thorough understanding of the business before gradually taking ownership of key responsibilities across the wider group.
What You'll Be Doing
As our Group Financial Controller, you will:
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts and group reporting.
- Complete month-end processes, reconciliations and journal postings.
- Support group consolidation and financial reporting.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, forecasting and treasury activities.
- Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements.
- Oversee payroll processes through our external payroll provider.
- Review financial performance, investigate variances and provide commercial insight.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning.
- Assist with external audits and liaise with accountants and professional advisors.
- Help improve finance systems, processes and reporting across the group.
- Work closely with operational managers to support informed business decision-making.
About You
We're looking for a proactive finance professional who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and working in a fast-paced environment.
You'll have:
Essential
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent)
- Current UK GAAP knowledge
- Experience in a senior finance or financial accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of management accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience with group consolidations and external audits.
- Excellent bookkeeping and double-entry accounting knowledge.
- Experience producing monthly management accounts to tight deadlines.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Cash flow management and forecasting experience.
- High attention to detail with the confidence to challenge financial information where appropriate.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across multiple businesses.
- Full UK driving licence with flexibility for occasional site visits.
Desirable
- Experience supporting business growth and finance transformation.
- Budgeting, forecasting and utilisation reporting experience.
- Payroll oversight experience.
- Experience working with external accountants and advisors.

Pay: £33,000.00-£47,000.00 per year
