Job Summary
Girish's Costcutter is looking for a friendly, reliable, and hardworking Shop Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service, maintain high store standards, and help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the shop. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has a positive attitude, and thrives in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers and provide friendly, professional service.
- Operate the till accurately and process cash and card payments.
- Replenish shelves and ensure products are well presented.
- Check stock levels and rotate products to maintain freshness.
- Keep the shop clean, tidy, and organised at all times.
- Assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries.
- Monitor product expiry dates and remove out-of-date stock.
- Follow health and safety, food hygiene, and company procedures.
- Help prevent stock loss by reporting any issues or suspicious activity.
- Support colleagues and management with daily store operations.
Skills and Experience Essential
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Basic numeracy and cash-handling skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings when required.
Desirable
- Previous retail or convenience store experience.
- Experience using EPOS or till systems.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and retail health and safety practices.
