Receptionist / Customer Support — GFD Trading (Thornaby)
About the role
We're looking for a Receptionist / Customer Support person to join our head office team in Thornaby. This is a front-facing, inbound support role — no cold calling, no sales targets to chase. You'll be the first point of contact for customers who've already got in touch through our website, phone lines, email or live chat, helping them with enquiries, quotations, payments and general account support.
It's a great fit for someone who's organised, enjoys speaking with people, and wants a steady, well-structured role in a dynamic, friendly office.
What you'll do
- Answer inbound calls, emails and live chat enquiries
- Help customers understand their options and next steps
- Prepare quotations and take payments over the phone
- Keep customer records and internal systems accurate and up to date
- Check in with existing trade accounts and support the Key Accounts team
- Liaise with suppliers and colleagues to resolve queries
- Build up product knowledge over time — full training provided
What we're looking for
- Confident, friendly phone manner
- Comfortable using computer systems (training given on our specific tools)
- Organised, accurate, good attention to detail
- A team player who enjoys a settled, close-knit office environment
- No industry experience required — full product training provided
Hours & what you'll get
- Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm — no weekend or rota work
- Salary £24,800–£25,500 depending on experience
