Larchtower Engineering, home to Forge Motorsport and Forge Engineering designs and manufactures high-performance motorsport and automotive components supplied worldwide. Our in-house fabrication capability is central to product quality, and we're looking for a skilled operator to run our HSG fibre laser cutter and Amada press brake.
Role summary
You'll be responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient operation of our HSG fibre laser cutter and Amada press brake, turning engineering drawings and nested programs into precision sheet-metal components. The role suits someone who takes pride in quality, works to tight tolerances, and can move confidently between cutting and forming operations.
Key responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the HSG fibre laser cutting machine, loading material, selecting/loading cutting programs and managing consumables.
- Operate the Amada press brake, achieving specified angles and dimensions.
- Interpret engineering drawings, working to specified tolerances.
- Carry out first-off and in-process inspection using measuring equipment (verniers, protractors, gauges) and adjust settings to maintain quality.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning and report issues promptly.
- Handle and prepare a range of materials (mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium) safely, including manual handling of sheet.
- Maintain accurate production records and complete jobs to schedule.
- Work to health & safety standards at all times and keep the work area clean and organised (5S).
- Deburring and material post processing.
Skills & experience
Essential:
- Proven experience operating a fibre laser cutter and press brake in a production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances.
- Good understanding of sheet-metal materials and their behaviour when cutting and forming.
- Quality-focused, reliable and able to work independently.
Desirable:
- Experience with HSG laser systems and their cutting software.
- Experience with Amada control systems and offline programming / nesting software.
- Forklift / counterbalance licence.
