XEIAD is a specialist engineering inspection consultancy delivering high‑quality inspections and assessments on critical infrastructure assets. Using specialist access techniques such as rope access, diving and confined space working, their expert engineers inspect structures including bridges, tunnels and culverts, providing reliable insight to help asset owners manage risk and maintain safety.
Please note – this is a part time role (3 days per week), for a period of 12 months fixed term contract.
What will you be doing?
As a Structures Engineer for XEIAD, part of British Engineering Services Group, you will support the delivery of technical engineering services across rail infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and contractual requirements. You will play a key role in reviewing structural examination reports, providing technical guidance and promoting engineering excellence across the team.
You will also:
- Review and approve structural examination reports, ensuring technical compliance, accurate risk assessments and timely submission to clients.
- Provide technical support and advice on engineering issues relating to rail structures and asset management activities.
- Champion a strong safety culture by promoting safe working practices and ensuring compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
- Coach, mentor and support the development of Assistant Structures Engineers and wider team members.
- Build collaborative relationships with clients and operational teams to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality engineering outputs.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering systems, processes and best practice across the business.

To join our team, you will need:
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least 5 years’ experience in structures examination, maintenance or construction environments.
- Knowledge of rail structures engineering processes, standards and examination requirements.
- STE2 competency and a strong understanding of health, safety, quality and environmental procedures.
- A full UK driving licence and good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
