We are now recruiting a Site Bakery Engineer to support our bakery and production lines. You’ll handle electrical and mechanical maintenance, ensuring equipment runs safely, smoothly, and efficiently across the site.
The Role:
As part of our ongoing expansion, we are seeking a Site Bakery Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing electrical and maintenance services to support the bakery, production lines, and related areas. Your work will help ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operations across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planned maintenance and continuous improvements of bakery equipment
- Reactive maintenance and excellent fault-finding skills, ensuring high-quality repairs
- Ensuring plant and equipment runs efficiently, smoothly, and safely, minimising downtime
- Complying with all health and safety legislation
- Completing daily work sheets and general record keeping
- Helping to install and commission new machinery
- Maintaining mechanical and electrical parts and spares, sourcing and ordering supplies
- Performing general repairs, including plumbing, painting, fitting, and finishing
- Mentoring junior colleagues
- Working closely with the Engineering Manager, other engineering colleagues, and essential departments
- Attending training and development courses, as appropriate
Requirements & Skills:
- Strong electrical knowledge and practical experience
- Experience in planned and reactive maintenance
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience working as a mechanical/electrical engineer within an industrial setting (ex-Naval engineers or similar welcomed)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, using own initiative
- Strong attention to safety and compliance
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in mechanical and/or electrical engineering (NVQ, City & Guilds, HND, or equivalent)
- Apprentice trained
- Ability to read electrical drawings
- Forklift truck license preferred
- Basic food hygiene certificate desirable
- Fully conversant with Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong team player
Hours:
- This role follows a 3 on / 3 off rotating shift pattern, alternating between days and nights:
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Average of 40.25 hours per week
We’re looking for someone who is flexible with working hours, as you may occasionally be required to:
- Join an on-call rota

Pay: £44,000.00-£49,420.00 per year
