Head of FunnCamps & Operations
The FunnClubb · Hackney & East London
£35,000 + performance bonus · Full-time · ~75% work from home Start date: September 2026
The role
We run Ofsted-registered holiday camps, football and classes for children across various Hackney venues. We've grown fast and need help running the engine that produces the most funn for the children.
You'll own the operation so completely that the day-to-day stops landing on the founder's desk. It's not a coaching role, your value is in running it, not delivering it.
Your working pattern (please read)
- Term time — ~39 weeks (75%): work from home, 9–5. Rotas, compliance, admin, planning. Occasional days out for school visits, flyering or equipment, one or two a month.
- School holidays — ~13 weeks (25%): on site, 8–6. Summer plus every half-term. This is when it all comes alive — you're across our venues as the senior person on the ground: setting the standard, running quality control, holding 1-1s with your leads, meeting the team and the parents, and making the call when something needs one.
Hours are annualised at 40/week.
28 days' holiday including bank holidays, taken during term time.
Online and contactable 9–5, messages answered within the hour. We run on Milanote and ClassForKids, so work is visible as it happens, a short check-in each morning, a summary at the end of the day. We're not looking for someone who needs watching, but the hours are real hours.
What you'll own
- Staff rotas and 100% venue coverage
- Compliance — Single Central Record, DBS, training records, inspection-readiness (this role is not the DSL or SENCO unless separately trained and appointed)
- Running Milanote and ClassForKids (training given)
- Parent communication and bookings
- Standards across all venues
- Parent communication and bookings across all our Funn programmes camps and classes
- Recruiting and inducting seasonal staff
Who we're looking for
- Proactive. You spot the problem nobody flagged and fix it. Most important quality by far.
- Organised. You love a checklist. Nothing slips.
- Self-managing. Three-quarters of your year is unsupervised at home, you need to get more done that way, not less.
- Discreet with financial, staffing and safeguarding information.
We have a full playbook. SOPs, checklists, decision-rights charter. This isn't a role where you invent your own way of working; it's one where you execute a proven system, then improve it.
Requirements: proven ops/management experience · excellent written English · Enhanced DBS (or willing) · reliable way to get around East London · right to work in the UK
Benefits: company pension · annualised hours with genuine term-time flexibility · clear decision rights
