Job Summary:
An Assistant Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing all daily tasks for Front of house functions within the branch to company standards. Motivates staff to deliver exceptional service and leads by example in all aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
1. People
- Providing training and coaching to employees in customer service, product knowledge and safe working practices whilst demonstrating commitment to our guiding principles (values) and house rules
- Establishing effective and positive communication among all team members
- Providing guidance and actively setting an example for team members, ensuring that all standard operating procedures are maintained and followed
- Ensuring a high-quality experience for both our customers and team members
- Being the Role Model for outstanding service and “owner” of the service initiative on their shift
- Is customer focused at all times and considers the impact of their actions on customers
- Dealing with stress, conflict and high-pressure situations in a calm and rational manner; fairly and promptly before things escalate
2. Service & Other Company Standards
- Ensuring that all Service Standards/Service Points are adhered to at all times
- Ensuring all guests have a positive experience from beginning to end and promoting to achieve this within the entire team
- Having a positive attitude and demonstrating a willingness to help others
- Following all company food and drink recipes and procedures, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards
- Ensuring all Food/Drink orders are placed when needed and to required par levels, always guaranteeing 100% product availability
- Responsibility for stock rotation and ensuring that wastage is kept to a minimum and all Food/Drink products are within their “Use by” date
- Make certain all counter displays are clean, organised and visually appealing. All products are clearly labelled and visible to customers
3. Operations
- Maintaining proper shift coverage and team member schedules to maintain customer service standards and adhere to forecasted labour budgets
- Is responsible for all opening and closing duties, including cash-up procedures, delivery checks and all daily safety checks
- Pro-active in problem-solving, encompassing all aspects of work, e.g. customer problems, equipment failures, staff or supplier issues
4. Financial
- Awareness of all financial targets and cost controls and striving to deliver on both. Responsible for making necessary changes to achieve targets in changing circumstances e.g. quieter sales periods than forecast, reducing staff levels.

- Delivering sales targets
- Reviewing product standing orders and adjusting orders where necessary to ensure minimum wastage and maximum product profitability
Essential Skills & Personality Characteristics:
- Strong organisational skills to be able to plan workloads to meet goals within strict deadlines effectively
- Customer focused and considers the impact of their actions on customers
- Leadership ability. Can assign tasks to appropriate team members and ensure they are working effectively as a team
- Good communicator to be able to explain what they require of each team member clearly; whilst giving corrections/guidance in a constructive and concise manner
- Projects enthusiasm, confidence, and commitment to work
- Has the desire to take responsibility and be accountable. Will motivate, direct, and implement rules and policies. Understand the ‘Bigger Picture’ of the business.
- Flexibility and willingness to embrace change in working practice and patterns; whilst ensuring minimal impact to the customers
- Two years experience in similar role within hospitality industry are essential
Working hours:
45 hours per week over 5 days. Weekends and Bank Holidays are part of normal working pattern.
