About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and caring individual to join our team as a Pharmacy Dispensing Apprentice. This is a fantastic opportunity to launch a career in healthcare while earning a recognised qualification.
This is a full time paid position whilst being enrolled on a Level 2 NVQ in Pharmacy Services. Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be a fully qualified pharmacy dispenser — ready to make a real difference in your patients’ lives.
What You’ll Do
- Accurately dispense prescription medicines under the supervision of a qualified pharmacist
- Assist with the labelling, assembly, and checking of prescriptions
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and carers, both in person and over the phone
- Manage stock levels, including ordering, receiving, and rotating medicines
- Handle patient queries with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality
- Maintain accurate patient records and comply with NHS and GPhC standards
- Support the wider pharmacy team with day-to-day operational tasks
- Complete all coursework and assessments for your Level 2 NVQ qualification

Essential:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- A genuine desire to help patients and a caring, empathetic approach
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong multitasking skills and attention to detail
- Punctuality and reliability — a professional attitude to attendance
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a customer-facing or healthcare environment
- An interest in medicines, healthcare, or science
- Basic IT skills (for electronic prescription systems)
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
Hours & Schedule
This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Applicants should also be available to rotate Saturdays to support the pharmacy’s opening hours. Specific shift patterns will be discussed at interview.
Salary
This role is offered at the National Minimum Wage for apprentices, in line with current government apprenticeship pay guidelines. We are committed to reviewing pay progression as you develop your skills and work towards qualification.
