Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and adaptable Bricklayer to join our heritage construction team. The majority of the work will be brickwork on heritage buildings high end clients with expectations of high quality at our clients property. You will work locally most of the time with the odd need to work away and travel to our Head office in Walsall The role involves working on a variety of projects, including heritage conservation and restoration works, while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship, quality, and safety.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out high-quality bricklaying and masonry work on heritage, conservation, restoration and traditional building projects.
- Undertake brickwork repairs, alterations, extensions and new masonry construction in accordance with project specifications.
- Carry out traditional brickwork techniques, including Flemish and English bond where required.
- Undertake sympathetic repairs to historic and listed buildings, taking care to preserve original fabric and architectural features.
- Complete brick and stone repointing using appropriate traditional mortars, including lime mortar where specified.
- Carry out brickwork dismantling, brick reclamation and careful rebuilding where existing masonry requires repair.
- Undertake associated masonry works including blockwork, brickwork openings, lintels, structural repairs and minor concrete works.
- Select and use appropriate bricks, mortar mixes and techniques to achieve a high-quality and historically appropriate finish.
- Safely and effectively use hand tools and power tools, including grinders, mixers, drills, chisels and brick-cutting equipment.
- Work from drawings, specifications and instructions, ensuring work is completed accurately and to the required standard.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment in accordance with company procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with other trades and site management to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to programme.
- Take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship appropriate to the character and significance of historic buildings.
Skills & Experience
- NVQ Level 2 in Bricklaying or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Valid CSCS card appropriate to the role.
- Proven experience as a Bricklayer, preferably with experience in traditional or heritage construction.
- Strong practical knowledge of bricklaying, masonry repair, repointing and traditional building techniques.
- Experience working with lime mortar and traditional masonry techniques is highly desirable.
- Experience working on heritage, conservation, restoration, listed buildings or period properties is advantageous.
- Competent and confident in the safe use of bricklaying hand tools and associated power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and construction details.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Good understanding of site health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, skilled team.
- Reliable, professional and conscientious approach to work.
- Willingness to develop knowledge and skills in traditional and conservation-based construction techniques.
