Cheshire Cardiology is a proudly independent provider of Specialist services in Veterinary Cardiology operating from a new facility in Castle, Cheshire in the North West England (close to the M6, Liverpool, Manchester and North Wales).

Duties for all assistants…
· Maintaining the organisation and cleanliness of the clinical areas and staff room, including daily rotowash.
· Assisting the vets and RVNs with dog and cat handling and care as required.
· Cleaning and sterilising of surgical kits and equipment for surgeries.
· Dispensing medications and re-ordering pharmacy stock.
· Front of house - managing the diary, taking payments, taking telephone calls, answering emails.
Other duties to be shared between assistants...
The ideal candidate will have experience working as an animal care assistant in a veterinary practice but we will consider candidates without this experience if they have excellent animal handling skills, experience cleaning with a good work ethos. A driving licence is essential as some duties will be off site visiting other veterinary practices.
Duties will include assisting with referred cases in cardiology and daily cleaning of the clinical areas and staff room. You will provide a high standard of nursing support to animals and the clients associated with them, maintain a high standard of hygiene, cleanliness and organisation within the hospital.

Duties
- Assist veterinary staff during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures with professionalism and care.
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize equipment, and maintain cleanliness to uphold high standards of hygiene.
- Handle animal restraint safely and comfortably to facilitate accurate assessments and procedures.
- Support laboratory work by collecting samples, preparing specimens, and performing basic diagnostic tests under supervision.
- Monitor hospitalized animals’ conditions, administer medications as directed, and record observations accurately.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure all equipment is properly maintained and ready for use.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to provide updates on their animals’ status and answer basic questions about care.
Skills
- Previous veterinary experience or related animal care background is highly desirable.
- Laboratory experience including sample collection, preparation, or diagnostic testing is a strong plus.
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills to interact confidently with clients and team members.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining attention to detail in all tasks.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently in a busy environment
- Flexibility to adapt quickly to changing priorities and work collaboratively within a team
