We are seeking a reliable and proactive General Operative to join our team, to support the safe and efficient manufacture of our products by carrying out a range of operational duties across the factory.
All tasks must be completed in accordance with company standards, health and safety regulations, and production requirements.. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, hardworking, and eager to contribute to a dynamic working environment.
Pay
£12.71 per hour, moving to £12.91 on successful completion of 6 month probation.
Duties
- Support operations across multiple departments as required, including assembly, preparation and dispatch.
- Assist in the manufacture, assembly, and preparation of finished products in line with company standards and customer specifications.
- Operate woodworking and manufacturing machinery safely and efficiently, in accordance with training, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised working environment in line with housekeeping standards, including cleaning of machinery and work areas
- Assist in meeting production targets by preparing materials and supporting skilled operatives.
- Handle basic manual tasks such as lifting, moving, and stacking items in accordance with health and safety guidelines
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure quality standards are met during daily activities
- Contribute to a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and reporting hazards promptly
- Work effectively as part of the production team to achieve daily and weekly targets.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar operative or manual labour role is advantageous but not essential; full training will be provided
- Physically fit, capable of performing manual handling tasks including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Reliable, motivated, and willing to take on a variety of tasks across the factory.
- Strong attention to detail and safety conscious, with a commitment to maintaining safety standards
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities
- Forklift licence or other relevant certifications are advantageous but not essential
- Basic level of written and spoken English required to understand instructions, complete tasks safely, and communicate effectively with colleagues.
