Starfish & Coffee is a multi-award winning cafe based by beautiful Queens Park, just a 15 minute walk from Brighton Pavilion.
We have won more Brighton Restaurant Awards than any other establishment in the city, Time Out declared us the "Number 1 Brunch Spot in Brighton & Hove" and we have a 4.8 rating on Google with over 1,500 reviews.
We are looking for a new Head Barista to run all of our drinks operations to include coffee, other hot drinks including matcha, soft drinks & cocktails.
Exceptional latte art is essential, but the successful applicant will have so much more about them, which we invite you to tell us about within your application.
Key Responsibilities
- Brew specialty coffee to the highest standard.
- Lead, mentor, and train the FoH team.
- Manage ordering, stock control, and supplier relations.
- Ensure daily cleanliness, food safety, and equipment maintenance.
- Create seasonal coffee menus and latte art standards.
- Deliver friendly, welcoming service to all customers.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Head Barista or Senior Barista.
- Strong knowledge of coffee extraction, grinders, and latte art.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Passion for specialty coffee and customer service.
- Right to work in the UK.

The hourly rate is £13.30ph, plus service charge which can amount to £3-£5 per hour worked depending on the time of year and daily cash tips.
The guaranteed hours are 8.15am-3.45pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday, plus bank holidays & holiday cover.
