Lewis Business Media is looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Journalist to join our supportive editorial team in Uckfield.
This is a great opportunity to start a career in journalism while gaining hands-on experience across a range of established business-to-business (B2B) publications.
You'll learn all aspects of journalism, from researching and writing breaking news to producing features, conducting interviews and creating content for both print and online.
The role
Working alongside experienced editors and journalists, you'll learn how to:
- Research and write breaking news stories
- Produce features for print and online
- Interview industry professionals
- Develop story ideas and identify news angles
- Write accurately and to deadline
- Build relationships with industry contacts
- Support the production of print magazines and digital content
- Attend industry events and exhibitions where appropriate
The apprenticeship
Alongside your role at Lewis Business Media, you'll complete an 18-month journalism apprenticeship, with training delivered through the Press Association.
The programme leads to a Level 5 Diploma in Journalism through the NCTJ, combining formal training with practical newsroom experience. Some travel to London may be required for training.
About you
You don't need previous journalism experience. We're looking for someone who is:
- A confident writer with a good standard of English
- Curious and interested in news
- Comfortable talking to new people and asking questions
- Organised and able to meet deadlines
- Keen to learn, develop and take on new challenges
- Interested in building a career in journalism
You'll be based at our Uckfield offices, where you'll be part of a friendly and supportive team and have the opportunity to see your work published across our print and digital titles.
