About the Role
Bartons Stoke Ltd is looking for an experienced, organised and motivated Depot Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of our depot. This is a hands-on role within our family-run drinks wholesale business, requiring strong leadership, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the depot, maintaining high standards of customer service, stock control and operational efficiency while supporting the continued growth of the business.
Working Hours
- Monday to Saturday, with one weekday off each week.
- Working bank holidays as part of the normal working pattern.
- Full-time, permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the depot.
- Take customer orders by telephone, email and in person.
- Accurately input customer orders using the company's internal software system.
- Maintain accurate stock levels and carry out regular stock takes.
- Order stock from both internal and external suppliers to ensure product availability.
- Maintain accurate stock levels, monitor inventory movements and replenish stock as required.
- Oversee the picking, checking and dispatch of customer orders.
- Ensure excellent customer service is provided at all times.
- Assist with deliveries when required.
- Manage the company's vehicle fleet, ensuring vehicles remain compliant, serviced and roadworthy.
- Ensure all warehouse health and safety procedures are followed.
- Monitor stock movement and investigate any discrepancies.
- Work closely with the sales, purchasing and transport teams to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Identify and implement improvements to depot processes and efficiency.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the business.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience within the wholesale drinks industry is preferred.
- Experience managing or supervising a warehouse or depot operation.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Confident taking customer orders and accurately inputting them into an internal computer system.
- Good IT skills with experience using stock management or warehouse software.
- Strong stock control and inventory management experience.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads.
- A proactive, reliable and hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail.
