Children's Residential Support Worker — Marple, Levenshulme & Bury
Salary: £31,824 – £36,840 per year (depending on experience and qualification level)
Hours: 40 hours per week, including shifts and sleep-ins
Location: Multiple children's homes across Greater Manchester — Marple, Levenshulme, and Bury
About the Role
We're hiring Children's Residential Support Workers to join our friendly, established teams across our homes in Marple, Levenshulme, and Bury. Every one of our homes offers a warm, stable, and nurturing environment, and you'll be joining a team that genuinely cares — about the children we support and about each other.
You'll provide safe, consistent, and trauma-informed care to children and young people aged 8–17, many of whom have experienced placement breakdowns or difficult life experiences. This is a chance to build a rewarding career while making a real difference to a young person's future.
Pay Structure
- Support Worker: £12.30 per hour, plus £60 per sleep-in (2 sleep-ins per week typical) — £31,824 per year
- Senior / Qualified & Experienced Support Worker: up to £14.25 per hour, plus £60 per sleep-in — £36,840 per year
- Sleep-ins are non-contractual and allocated fairly based on the needs of the home
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct day-to-day care and emotional support to children and young people
- Safeguard and promote the welfare, safety, and well-being of every child in our care
- Follow and contribute to individualised care plans tailored to each child's needs
- Build trusting relationships through effective communication and active listening
- Support daily routines, education, appointments, and recreational activities
- Safely transport young people to school, activities, and appointments
- Maintain accurate records and reports
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and external professionals
Essential Requirements
- Indefinite Leave to Remain — we are unable to offer visa sponsorship
- Full UK manual driving licence, held for at least 2 years
- 6 points or fewer on licence
- Aged 25 or over (required for fleet insurance purposes)
- Willingness to work shifts and sleep-ins
- Able to complete a rigorous safer recruitment process, including enhanced DBS and references
Qualifications (for Senior roles, or willingness to work towards)
- Level 4 Diploma in Children, Young People and Families Practitioner, or
- Level 4 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce, or
- NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care (Children and Young People)
