This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a genuine passion for reading, literacy and education to play a central role in supporting teaching and learning. The Role:
As a Librarian you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and development of the school's library and learning resource centre. Working closely with teaching staff, you will promote literacy across the school, support reading interventions and ensure students have access to high-quality learning resources.
Key responsibilities include:
- Promoting reading for pleasure and supporting whole-school literacy initiatives
- Organising engaging displays, author events, competitions and reading activities
- Supporting students with independent study, research and information literacy
- Maintaining and developing library resources, both physical and digital
- Delivering literacy-focused interventions and supporting small groups of students
- Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote reading and academic success
The Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will:
- Have a genuine passion for books, reading and literacy
- Be able to inspire young people to develop a love of reading
- Possess excellent communication, organisational and time management skills
- Be confident working independently and collaboratively with teaching staff
- Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school environment
- Demonstrate creativity, initiative and a proactive approach to developing the library
- Be confident using IT systems and library management software (or be willing to learn)

- Have strong organisational and administrative skills
- Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
