We are seeking to appoint a skilled and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about supporting children to succeed, particularly those who may present with challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, delivering high-quality interventions, and leading whole-class learning when required. A calm, adaptable, and proactive approach is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver planned learning activities and support pupils’ progress across the curriculum
- Lead whole-class sessions in the absence of a teacher
- Work closely with teachers to plan, assess and adapt learning activities
- Provide targeted support for pupils with additional needs, including those with social, emotional and behavioural challenges
- Respond effectively and confidently to situations as they arise, adapting strategies “in the moment” to meet pupils’ needs
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment
You will have:
- a good level of literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent)
- a HLTA qualification or equivalent
- a working knowledge of the National Curriculum and assessment requirements
- proven experience working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour
- the ability to be adaptable, being able to think on your feet and respond to dynamic classroom situations
- strong behaviour management skills with a nurturing and consistent approach
- excellent communication skills and be a team player
- a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- a willingness to undertake any appropriate training
