About the Opportunity
An exciting new SPAR store is opening soon, and we're looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Store Manager to join our opening team!
Our brand-new store will feature a fantastic fresh food offering, including a brand-new deli counter, alongside everything our customers know and love from SPAR.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a new store from day one, supporting the Store Manager in creating a successful team, delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high operational standards.
As Assistant Store Manager, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day running of the store, helping to lead, coach and motivate colleagues to deliver an exceptional experience for our customers.
Here’s What You Can Expect to be Doing
Working alongside the Store Manager, you will:
- Support the overall day-to-day operation of the store, ensuring high standards are maintained at all times.
- Lead, coach and motivate colleagues to deliver excellent customer service and achieve store standards.
- Support the Store Manager with the recruitment, induction, training and development of colleagues.
- Take responsibility for the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Help ensure the store is fully stocked, well-presented and ready for our customers.
- Monitor stock levels, deliveries, stock rotation and waste, taking action where required.
- Support the effective running of the fresh food, deli and food-to-go offering.
- Ensure excellent standards of food safety, hygiene, cleanliness and health & safety are maintained.
- Ensure company policies, procedures and legal requirements are followed.
- Support with cash handling, till procedures and the accurate completion of relevant administration.
- Help manage colleague performance and attendance, providing support and feedback where appropriate.
- Monitor and maintain store standards, taking action to address any issues.
- Help create a positive and welcoming environment for both customers and colleagues.
A Few Things About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- An experienced retail professional with previous supervisory or management experience.
- Confident leading, coaching and motivating a team.
- Passionate about delivering excellent customer service and high standards.
- Organised, reliable and able to prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
- Commercially aware and able to understand the importance of sales, costs, stock and waste.
- Confident making decisions and taking responsibility when required.
- A positive role model who leads by example.
- Flexible and able to adapt to the demands of a busy new store.
- Committed to maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, cleanliness and health & safety.
- A team player who enjoys supporting colleagues and creating a positive working environment.
Previous experience in a retail management or supervisory role is essential. Experience within convenience retail, fresh food or a similar fast-paced customer-facing environment would be an advantage.
