HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES AND FOOD PROGRAMME | 2026
Job Purpose
Exeter City Community Trust are seeking HAF Delivery Leads to support and oversee delivery of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme this summer.
The HAF programme provides active and engaging opportunities for children and young people during the school holidays. As a Lead Staff Member, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and effective delivery of activities across one of our HAF programmes.
You will be responsible for overseeing a daily timetable of activities, maintaining high standards of safeguarding and behaviour management, and acting as a key point of contact for parents and carers.
Main Responsibilities
· Lead and support the delivery of daily activities, including ice breakers, energisers, and team-building sessions.
· Oversee staff on site, providing guidance and ensuring activities are delivered effectively and safely.
· Complete and maintain accurate daily registers.
· Take responsibility for behaviour management, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
· Act as a safeguarding lead on site by identifying, recording, and reporting any concerns in line with procedures.
· Liaise with parents/carers professionally, including at drop-off and pick-up times.
· Ensure activities run smoothly by anticipating issues and adapting plans where necessary.
· Support young people’s engagement by building positive relationships and responding to individual needs.
· Lead daily briefings and debriefings with staff to communicate key updates, address concerns, and review delivery.
About You
You will be a confident and approachable individual with experience working with children and young people. You will be comfortable leading a team, making decisions under pressure, and adapting to changing situations.
You should be passionate about supporting young people’s development and able to create a safe, structured, and enjoyable environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with both young people and adults are essential.
Essential
· Experience working with children and/or teenagers
· Experience in a leadership or supervisory role
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Ability to manage behaviour effectively
· Confident in handling safeguarding responsibilities
· Ability to work independently and lead a team
· Adaptable and able to perform well under pressure
Desirable
· Safeguarding qualification
· First aid certificate
· Experience liaising with parents/carers
· Understanding/experience of working with children with additional needs
· Knowledge and understanding of HAF programme principles
· Experience delivering physical and/or educational activities
Dates
The HAF programmes will run from Monday 20th July – Friday 28th August, with roles available across different weeks on both Primary and Secondary programmes. Availability will be discussed at interview.
Hours
Daytime hours. Minimum 20 hours per week.
Rate of Pay:- £15.50ph
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 4 weeks
Pay: £15.50 per hour
