MAControls Ltd is a growing UKAS-accredited calibration laboratory based in Cheltenham, specialising in the calibration of temperature and pressure instrumentation for customers across a wide range of industries.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Calibration Engineering Apprentice to join our friendly team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on engineering experience while completing a Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship through Gloucestershire Engineering Training (GET).
As a small and growing business, you'll have the opportunity to learn much more than just laboratory calibration. Working closely with experienced engineers, you'll gain experience across many aspects of the business while developing valuable technical, practical and professional skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities
As part of your apprenticeship, you will:
- Calibrate temperature and pressure measuring equipment using UKAS-accredited procedures.
- Learn to use precision laboratory reference standards and specialist calibration equipment.
- Prepare calibration certificates and maintain accurate technical records.
- Assist with laboratory equipment maintenance, verification and routine quality checks.
- Support quality systems and continuous improvement activities.
- Develop practical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Work alongside experienced engineers and progressively take on greater responsibility as your skills develop.
- Attend Gloucestershire Engineering Training (GET) one day per week as part of your apprenticeship programme.
Requirements
We're looking for someone who is:

- Methodical with excellent attention to detail.
- Able to follow procedures accurately.
- A good communicator and team player.
- Confident using IT and willing to learn new software.
- Reliable, organised and self-motivated.
- Able to think logically and solve problems.
Essential Qualifications
- Five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 9-4 (A-C)* including Mathematics and English.
- A Science or Engineering subject would be advantageous.
What we offer
- £18,000 starting salary, rising to at least £20,000 in the second year subject to satisfactory progress.
- Full support towards a Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship.
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (37.5 hours per week including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break).
- The opportunity to develop specialist skills within a UKAS-accredited laboratory.
- Excellent long-term career prospects, including progression to a permanent Calibration Engineer role and opportunities to develop expertise in temperature, pressure and future electrical calibration disciplines.
