Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Transport and Distribution Manager to oversee the efficient movement and distribution of goods within our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing logistics operations, supervising teams, and implementing process improvements to optimise supply chain performance. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in transportation management systems, warehouse operations, and supply chain optimisation. The ideal applicant will possess supervisory experience and a comprehensive understanding of logistics software such as ERP systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and AS400.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily transportation and distribution activities to ensure timely delivery of goods whilst maintaining cost efficiency.
- Supervise logistics teams, including drivers, warehouse staff, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
- Develop and implement process improvements to optimise supply chain operations and enhance overall efficiency.
- Manage transportation management systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, and AS400 to coordinate shipments, inventory, and warehouse activities.
- Monitor profit & loss statements related to logistics operations to ensure financial targets are met.
- Coordinate shipping & receiving processes, ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Oversee forklift operations and warehouse activities to maintain high safety standards and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with supply chain partners to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Analyse logistics data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards across all transportation activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience in logistics management, with a strong focus on transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and AS400 platforms.
- Supervisory experience overseeing logistics teams or warehouse personnel.
- Demonstrable knowledge of profit & loss management within a logistics or supply chain context.
- Experience working with 3PL providers and managing complex supply chain networks.
- Strong understanding of shipping & receiving procedures, forklift operation, and warehouse safety standards.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data for strategic decision-making.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in logistics or supply chain management are desirable but not essential. Pay: £44,900.00-£60,041.53 per year
