Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Barista to join our team at The Cosy Plate Cafe. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent guest service, creating high-quality beverages, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills within the hospitality industry and contribute to a positive customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Confidently prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including branded coffee, tea, and speciality drinks, ensuring consistency and quality. Must be able to use an espresso machine, prepare matchas, frappes and cooler drinks with ease.
- Greet guests warmly and provide exceptional customer service throughout their visit.
- Take orders accurately and efficiently, handling cash or electronic payments with attention to detail.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the cafe area and barista station, including cleaning equipment and work surfaces regularly.
- Follow food safety standards and health regulations diligently to ensure a safe environment for both staff and guests, this includes extensive knowledge of allergens.
- Food preparation tasks when required, supporting the kitchen team as needed.
- Upsell menu items to enhance guest experience and maximise sales opportunities.
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages repeat visits.
- Be motivated and passionate about the cafe and the needs of the cafe by being proactive and creating signature drinks or incentives.
- Work as part of a team and support colleagues with tasks if required.
Experience
- Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant environments is essential.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and basic food preparation techniques is advantageous.
- Experience in serving or barista roles demonstrates strong guest service skills.
- Basic maths skills are necessary for handling transactions accurately.
- Kitchen or culinary experience can be beneficial in understanding food presentation and preparation processes.
- Excellent time management skills are essential for working efficiently during peak hours.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: Up to £13.00 per hour
