Beamish Museum, the 2025 winner of the Museum of the Year award, is a renowned open air museum situated in north east England and which attracts over 800,000 visitors per annum to its 400-acre site.
The museum is well-known for its extensive transport collection, with working railways, electric tramway, a busy vintage bus network and a wide variety of regionally significant motor vehicles and industrial objects many of which are in, or aspire to be in, working order.
The museum’s ambition is to operate the most comprehensive regional collection of transport artefacts in the World, and to support and sustain this ambition and the present intensive operation, the engineering team works hard in the background to achieve this.
We now have this exciting new post, to work closely with the Director of Development Transport, Industry & Design, and which will take these aspirations forward. Leading and developing the team and facilities that will ensure these goals are enduring and that the fantastic collection of working transport artefacts are maintained and restored to the very highest standards of safety and historical accuracy.
