We’re on a mission to bridge the digital skills gap across the West of England and we need a passionate, persuasive Business Development Manager to help us get there.
You’ll be responsible for engaging with employers across the region to secure their support for commercial and funded digital skills programmes in high-demand areas such as cyber-security, artificial intelligence, data engineering/science, and software development.
This is a consultative, purpose-led sales role, helping employers understand how they can either upskill their existing workforce or access new entry-level talent trained through our commercial and government-funded programmes.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Employer Engagement & Relationship Building
Identify, approach and build strong relationships with employers across the region who need tech-talent or workforce upskilling support.
- Consultative Needs Analysis
Understand employer pain points around recruitment, retention and digital transformation. Map these needs to our bootcamp solutions.
- Promote Funded Opportunities
Clearly articulate the benefits of our tailored programmes and how they contribute to wider business impact: zero/minimal cost, tailored content and employer-aligned outcomes.
- Host & Attend Networking Events
Organise and participate in regional employer roundtables, sector meetups and skills forums to promote our programmes and build pipeline.
- Account Management & Impact Reporting
Track employer engagement, gather feedback, and support ongoing participation in future cohorts. Report outcomes and success stories.
Work closely with marketing, curriculum teams and programme leads to ensure alignment and a joined-up approach to employer delivery.

Essential Criteria
- Proven B2B sales, business development, or employer engagement experience
- A strong, established network of SMEs and enterprise employers across the West of England
- Familiarity with employer-funded or government-funded training programmes (Skills Bootcamps, Apprenticeships etc.)
- Strong presentation, pitching and negotiation skills
- Experience attending and speaking at employer networking events
- Strong communicator
- Self-starter who thrives on pace, targets, and autonomy
- CRM savvy (HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.)
- Full UK Driving Licence with Business Cover Insurance (A copy of your insurance will be requested upon offer)
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of digital roles, skills gaps or experience working in education, or skills sectors
- Understanding of government skills funding
- Welsh speaker.
