Venetia House is a 10-bed residential care home providing high-quality care and support for adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs. We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join our team in delivering person-centred care that promotes independence, dignity, and well-being.
As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in assisting residents with daily living tasks, supporting their emotional and social needs, and helping them achieve their personal goals in a safe and positive environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support to residents in line with individual care and support plans.
- Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, dressing, mobility, and meal support.
- Promote independence and encourage residents to participate in meaningful activities both within the home and in the community.
- Support residents with medication administration in accordance with Venetia House policies and training.
- Manage behaviours that challenge using positive behaviour support strategies.
- Maintain accurate and timely care records in line with organisational and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the environment is safe, clean, and supportive at all times.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate in care reviews, staff meetings, and training sessions as required.
- Uphold safeguarding principles and report concerns following Blue Star Care Ltd policies.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience working in a care or support setting is desirable (learning disabilities or mental health preferred).
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
- Strong understanding of person-centred care and safeguarding principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and reliable with a genuine passion for supporting others.
- Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and shift work.
- Basic IT and record-keeping skills.
- Valid driving licence is an advantage but not essential.
- Updated DBS preferred
