Overview
We are seeking an attentive, trustworthy and proactive House Assistant to support the smooth running of a private family home and provide assistance at associated properties and events.
The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards throughout the property, whilst being adaptable enough to respond to changing priorities and support the family wherever required.
The position would suit someone who enjoys practical work, takes initiative without needing close supervision, and is equally comfortable working independently or as part of a wider household team.
Key Responsibilities
Property Maintenance
Maintain the general appearance of the house to an exceptional standard.
Undertake minor maintenance tasks, including paint touch ups, basic repairs and decorating.
Clean external and internal windows where appropriate.
Carry out routine inspections of the property, identifying maintenance issues before they become significant.
Assist with coordinating external contractors where required.
Grounds and Garden
Maintain the gardens and external areas to a consistently high standard.
Carry out routine gardening duties, including watering, weeding, pruning and seasonal maintenance.
Ensure outdoor furniture, pathways and external spaces remain clean, tidy and presentable.
Family Support
Provide practical assistance to family members with physical tasks around the home.
Drive members of the family when required, ensuring safe, reliable and discreet transport.
Travel to other family properties when required to provide similar support.
Completing shopping tasks as required.
(A candidate with the ability to prepare simple but elegant food is preferred.)
Hospitality
Assist with preparations when the family is entertaining guests, both at the family home and at the Theatre.
Serve drinks and refreshments professionally.
Assist with basic food preparation and presentation.
Help prepare, set up and clear hospitality spaces before and after events.
Pet Care
Provide day to day care for the family's pets.
Walk, wash and groom dogs as required.
Ensure pets' living areas remain clean and well maintained.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

The ability to work independently, using initiative and good judgement.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise changing workloads.
A practical mindset with good general maintenance skills.
A full, clean UK driving licence.
A flexible approach to working hours, including occasional evenings, weekends and travel.

Pay: £40,000.00 per year
