We are looking to recruit a temporary, relief/casual Validation Officer to join the Corporate Service Support Team assisting Development Management Services. The Validation Team deliver a key function in the validation of planning applications submitted to the Council.
This role is a relief/casual role – working hours will be as and when required, dictated by service demand.
About the Role:
A key role of the Validation Officer will be to manage the process of receipting, validating and registering planning applications, and requests for pre application advice. The postholder will be required to input, update and extract information from IT systems; collate data; maintain electronic database records and where appropriate website-based records. They will also be required to undertake a variety of administration duties associated with a busy office environment, including overseeing email accounts; responding to telephone calls; handling incoming and outgoing correspondence.
About the Candidate:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with an NVQ level 4 or above in Business Studies or equivalent experience gained over a minimum of 4 years. The opportunity would suit someone who is methodical, has good attention to detail, a high level of computer literacy and technical ability, good communication skills and an enthusiastic and positive approach to work. Knowledge of ICT systems such as Tascomi and QGIS would be a distinct advantage.
Due to the level of contact with members of the public, both on the telephone and also via email and paper correspondence, the need to meet the desired Welsh language levels is essential.
