VKR is seeking a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team on projects based in Newcastle. This opportunity is ideal for a Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career while gaining exposure to civil engineering, groundworks, and drainage projects.
Working alongside senior commercial professionals and project delivery teams, you will play a key role in managing costs, supporting subcontractor administration, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the commercial management of construction projects.
- Prepare valuations, variations, cost reports, and final account documentation.
- Support procurement and subcontractor management activities.
- Monitor project costs and assist with forecasting and budgeting.
- Review subcontractor applications and account reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and reporting systems.
- Work closely with operational teams to support project delivery.
- Assist in identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor within the construction sector.
- Experience working on:
- Groundworks projects
- Drainage packages
- Civil engineering or infrastructure works
- Experience dealing with subcontractors and commercial processes.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial reporting software.
