About us
Dalby Dental & Cosmetic Practice has proudly served the Cliftonville community for over 30 years. We're a growing practice looking for an enthusiastic team member who genuinely enjoys looking after patients and being part of a supportive team.
Our philosophy is simple: every patient should leave feeling cared for, listened to and smiling. We're looking for someone who shares those values and enjoys making a real difference to people's experience at the dentist.
We use modern digital technology, including the iTero Lumina scanner, and are committed to continually investing in equipment, training and patient care.
The role
This role is primarily front-of-house reception. Your day-to-day focus will be running the desk, the phones and the patient experience. Because you're a qualified dental nurse, you'll also occasionally support the clinical team by providing chairside nursing cover, primarily during annual leave or planned absences. It's not a 50/50 split; reception is the core of the job, with nursing as an occasional, as-needed responsibility.
You'll play an important role in helping patients start their treatment journey by creating a welcoming first impression, supporting treatment discussions and ensuring every patient receives outstanding customer care from their first phone call to the completion of their treatment.
We also welcome applications from qualified dental nurses returning to practice after a career break.
Reception duties (core, day to day)
- Welcoming patients and managing the appointment book
- Answering calls and messages, booking and confirming appointments
- Taking payments and managing our Smile Plan membership scheme and finance options
- Helping patients understand their treatment journey, finance options and membership plans
- Discussing Invisalign, implants and membership plans with suitable patients and arranging consultations
- Maximising appointment utilisation and reducing diary gaps
- Keeping patient records up to date and supporting day-to-day admin
- Building lasting relationships with patients and delivering an exceptional patient experience
Dental nursing duties (occasional, holiday cover)
- Assisting the dentist during treatments, ensuring patient comfort throughout
- Preparing and maintaining the surgery, instruments and materials
- Maintaining CQC standards and cross-infection protocols
- Supporting clinicians to deliver high-quality patient care efficiently
- Accurate clinical record-keeping using our practice software (Henry Schein EXACT practice management software)
What we're looking for
- Fully qualified and GDC registered (National Diploma in Dental Nursing or equivalent)
- Happy to provide chairside nursing cover during holidays and planned staff absences
- Previous reception or customer service experience, ideally within dentistry or healthcare
- Confident, friendly, and comfortable on the phone and with patients face to face
- A genuine interest in helping patients understand their treatment options and supporting them to make informed decisions
- Well organised, calm under pressure, and a genuine team player
- Comfortable using computer systems, email and practice management software (training provided)
- Enhanced DBS check (we can arrange this)
Personal qualities
- Punctual
- Friendly
- Reliable
- Excellent communication skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to help others
Success in this role
You'll thrive if you:
- Love making patients feel welcome
- Stay calm and organised during busy periods
- Enjoy working as part of a close-knit team
- Take pride in keeping the diary organised
- Are happy to switch into surgery when colleagues are on annual leave
What we offer
- Competitive hourly pay based on experience
- Staff discounts on dental treatment
- Uniform provided
- CPD support
- Workplace pension (NEST)
- Free onsite parking
- Modern digital practice with iTero Lumina scanning
- Supportive management team
- Genuine opportunities to grow within the practice
Why join Dalby Dental?
- We're an independent family practice where every team member is valued
- You'll have the opportunity to make a real difference to patients' lives every day
