Lytham Tutors is recruiting for two separate tutoring roles in Ormskirk:
- Spanish Tutor – initially 2 hours per week
- History Tutor – initially 2 hours per week
These are separate positions, and applicants are welcome to apply for either role. Candidates who are suitably experienced in both subjects may apply for both.
Each position currently involves a commitment of 2 hours per week. However, there will be opportunities to take on additional students and increase your hours if desired, as further tuition becomes available.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential. Applications from candidates without QTS cannot be considered.
About Lytham Tutors
Lytham Tutors is a well-established education provider delivering high-quality, tailored tuition and alternative provision to children and young people across the North West.
We are looking for two passionate and experienced secondary teachers to provide individual tuition to students in Ormskirk. Tuition will take place during the daytime in students’ homes or suitable public spaces.
The roles
The successful tutors will:
- Deliver engaging and structured one-to-one lessons in either Spanish or History.
- Plan and adapt lessons according to the student’s individual needs, ability and learning style.
- Support students who may be accessing alternative provision or unable to attend mainstream education.
- Use provided resources where appropriate while exercising professional judgement when planning lessons.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular written feedback.
- Travel to the student’s home or an agreed public space in Ormskirk.
- Complete all required safeguarding and training documentation.
- Have the option to take on additional tuition hours as they become available.
Essential requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – this is mandatory.
- Strong subject knowledge in Spanish or History.
- Experience teaching the relevant subject at secondary level.
- The ability to plan and deliver individualised lessons.
- A professional, patient and adaptable approach.
- Availability during the daytime for an initial commitment of 2 hours per week.
- The ability to travel to students within Ormskirk.
- An enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to complete a new DBS application.
Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH needs or within alternative provision would be beneficial.
