You will be an important part of the wider team, helping us to maintain the environment in which our residents live and ensuring that potential maintenance and health and safety issues are identified and addressed promptly.
We can also provide training and further upskilling opportunities for individuals who wish to develop their skills and take on additional responsibilities.
The Maintenance Person will play an important role in ensuring that Bungay House remains a safe, secure, comfortable and well-maintained home for our residents, staff and visitors.
The role will include a variety of routine maintenance duties, health and safety checks and general repairs throughout the home and grounds.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
Completing weekly and monthly health and safety and environmental checks.
Identifying and reporting potential hazards, defects and maintenance issues.
Carrying out general repairs and minor maintenance work throughout the home.
Maintaining the gardens, grounds and external areas to ensure they remain safe, tidy and well presented.
Using tools, equipment and machinery safely and appropriately.
Demonstrating a basic understanding of health and safety precautions when using tools and maintenance equipment.
Ensuring tools and equipment are stored safely and securely when not in use.
Supporting the management team with planned and reactive maintenance.
Keeping appropriate records of checks, repairs and maintenance work completed.
Escalating any repairs or issues requiring specialist contractors or further assessment.
Working respectfully within a mental health residential environment and recognising that Bungay House is our residents’ home.
Maintaining appropriate boundaries and treating residents with dignity, kindness and respect at all times.
The Person We Are Looking For

Able to identify potential health and safety risks and take appropriate action.
Confident using basic hand tools and maintenance equipment.
Able to undertake general repairs and upkeep of a residential property.
Willing to work flexibly and respond to maintenance priorities as required.
Friendly, approachable and respectful towards residents and staff.
Comfortable working within a mental health residential setting.
Committed to maintaining a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment.
Previous maintenance experience is preferred; however, appropriate training and support will be provided to ensure you understand the requirements of the role and the health and safety procedures within the service.
