Job Title: Inspection Clerk

About the Role
Chestertons is looking for a proactive, organised, and customer-focused Inspection Clerk to join our Property Management team. This is a field-based role covering properties across London, carrying out a range of property inspections and producing high-quality reports.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting Mid-Term Inspections, Vacant Management Visits, and HMO Inspections, ensuring properties are maintained to a high standard while delivering excellent customer service to landlords, tenants, and internal teams.
This role requires extensive travel throughout London using public transport and walking, making strong time management and organisational skills essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out Mid-Term Inspections across a portfolio of managed properties.
- Conduct Vacant Management Visits on empty properties to ensure they remain secure, compliant, and well maintained.
- Complete HMO inspections, identifying any maintenance, safety, or compliance concerns.
- Produce detailed, accurate, and professional inspection reports using company software, including photographs and notes.
- Send completed inspection reports with maintenance items explained to landlords and property managers promptly following each visit.
- Identify maintenance issues and liaise with Property Managers regarding any actions required.
- Arrange inspection appointments directly with tenants, ensuring clear communication and confirmation of access.
- Plan daily inspection schedules efficiently to maximise productivity across multiple London locations.
- Maintain accurate records of appointments, completed inspections, and outstanding actions.
- Build positive working relationships with Property Managers, Lettings teams, Landlords, and Tenants.
- Respond confidently to telephone and email enquiries from both internal colleagues and external clients.
- Escalate urgent property issues where necessary.
- Ensure all inspections are completed in line with company procedures and service standards.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident speaking with landlords, tenants, Property Managers, and Lettings staff.
- Professional telephone manner and excellent email communication.
- Ability to prioritise a busy workload and manage multiple appointments each day.
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own diary.
- High attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate reports.
- Competent using Microsoft Office and mobile technology.
- Able to travel extensively across London using public transport and walking.
Desirable
- Previous experience within Residential Property Management, Lettings, Inventories, or Estate Agency.
- Experience carrying out property inspections or inventories.
- Knowledge of HMO regulations and residential property standards.
- Experience using inventory or property management software.

Working Pattern
- Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm
- Field-based across London (with the ability to work from home after probation?)
