About the Role
We are seeking experienced and motivated Freelance Dental Nurse Assessors to support learners located in Milton Keynes, Devon and the Far South.
The role primarily involves carrying out in-person workplace observations for learners completing Level 3 Dental Nursing qualifications. You will assess clinical competence in line with awarding organisation requirements and provide clear, constructive feedback to support learner progress.
This is a flexible, field-based position. Travel time will be paid, and mileage will be reimbursed. Assessors must be willing to travel, with journeys of up to two hours required for some workplace observations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person workplace observations of learners undertaking Level 3 Dental Nursing qualifications.
- Assess and confirm learners’ clinical competence against the relevant qualification standards.
- Provide constructive verbal and written feedback.
- Support learners in understanding their development needs and next steps.
- Ensure all assessments comply with awarding organisation and quality assurance requirements.
- Maintain accurate, timely assessment records and supporting documentation.
- Use e-portfolio systems to record assessment decisions and learner evidence where required.
- Communicate effectively with learners, employers and the wider assessment team.
Essential Requirements
- A recognised assessor qualification, such as TAQA, A1, D32/33 or equivalent.
- Current GDC registration as a Dental Nurse.
- Relevant and up-to-date dental nursing experience.
- Strong knowledge of Dental Nursing standards and Level 3 qualification requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Access to reliable transport and the ability to travel to learners’ workplaces.
- Willingness to undertake journeys of up to two hours for some observations.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience assessing Level 3 Dental Nursing learners.
- Experience using e-portfolio systems to record evidence and assessment decisions.
- Experience working with apprentices or vocational learners.
Additional Information
As part of the interview and onboarding process, we will need to review your Personal Development Plan (PDP). This is required to confirm that your knowledge and experience remain current in the relevant specialist areas, in line with External Quality Assurance requirements.
