Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Animal keeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in animal care and education, with the ability to work in a dynamic environment. As a keeper, you will be responsible for the daily care and management of various animal species, ensuring their health and well-being while also engaging with the public to educate them about farm animals.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health.
- Conduct regular health checks and report any concerns regarding animal behaviour or health to veterinary staff.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of enrichment activities to promote natural behaviours.
- Participate in scientific research projects related to animal behaviour and welfare.
- Maintain accurate records of animal diets, health checks, and behavioural observations.
- Engage with visitors by providing educational talks and demonstrations about the animals and their habitats.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a safe and clean environment for both animals and staff.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including those related to aseptic techniques when necessary.
Requirements
- A strong background or interest in animal science or biology is essential.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with the public and educating visitors about our animals.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks as required.
