Senior Prompt Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Senior Prompt Engineer to join our AI and Innovation team in London. This is an exciting opportunity for a technology professional with expertise in generative AI, large language models, and AI application development. You will play a key role in designing, testing, and optimising AI driven solutions that deliver measurable business value.
As a Senior Prompt Engineer, you will collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders to develop high quality prompts, evaluate model performance, and improve AI powered workflows across a range of business applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimise prompts for large language models to improve response quality, consistency, and accuracy.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to integrate AI capabilities into business applications.
- Evaluate prompt performance using structured testing methodologies and recommend continuous improvements.
- Develop prompt libraries, documentation, and best practice guidelines for enterprise use.
- Work with retrieval augmented generation workflows, structured outputs, and AI automation processes.
- Analyse user feedback and model performance to enhance AI generated responses.
- Support the development of AI powered assistants, chat applications, content generation tools, and workflow automation solutions.
- Collaborate with software engineers to implement prompt based solutions using APIs and AI development frameworks.
- Stay informed about advancements in generative AI, natural language processing, and large language model technologies.
- Contribute to responsible AI practices, governance, and quality assurance throughout AI solution development.
- Mentor team members and provide technical guidance on prompt engineering techniques and AI best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Prompt Engineer, AI Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, Natural Language Processing Engineer, or similar role with significant experience working with generative AI.
- Strong understanding of large language models, prompt engineering techniques, and AI evaluation methods.
- Experience working with AI platforms and APIs including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or similar technologies.
- Proficiency in Python and experience developing AI powered applications.
- Familiarity with retrieval augmented generation, vector databases, embeddings, and AI orchestration frameworks.
- Experience using Git, API integrations, and collaborative software development practices.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
- Experience working within Agile software development environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or similar frameworks is desirable.
