About Burbeck Interiors
Burbeck Interiors is an award-winning luxury interior design, home staging, and bespoke furniture studio. We deliver high-end interiors across property staging, show homes, and custom FF&E projects. Maintaining our reputation for flawless design requires absolute precision, exceptionally high standards, and seamless operations behind the scenes.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly meticulous and proactive Stock Controller to oversee our physical stock and inventory management workflows. In this role, you will be the ultimate gatekeeper of product quality—rigorously inspecting incoming brand-new staging stock, custom furniture, and bespoke interior design pieces before they head out to luxury client installations.
Beyond quality control, you will manage asset tracking systems and work directly alongside our logistics team, assisting with loading and unloading vans to ensure every item moves safely, efficiently, and accurately. While primarily warehouse-based, duties are not limited to the main hub—you will also actively support team members on live installations, property collections, and container offloading across our other sites when required, including driving company 3.5t vans.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Control & Inspection: Conduct meticulous checks on all incoming stock, including brand-new staging stock, bespoke interior design items, and luxury accessories. Spot and document transit damage, manufacturing flaws, or finish inconsistencies before stock enters inventory.
- Asset & Inventory Management: Lead the day-to-day process within our digital Asset Management System. Scan, log, track, and reconcile stock movements in real time to ensure 100% database accuracy.
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Maintain a strict standard of Health & Safety across all warehouse facilities and client sites. Adhere strictly to manual handling regulations, safe stacking protocols, and PPE requirements, actively identifying and reporting hazards to promote a zero-harm environment.
- Integrity & Honesty: Maintain complete transparency, integrity, and accountability in all stock reporting, inventory auditing, loss reporting, and damage logging.
- Logistics, Van Driving & Transport: Safely operate company 3.5t Luton/box vans to transport stock between sites, client properties, and supplier locations when required. Actively assist with loading and unloading, ensuring items are wrapped, strapped, and stowed securely to eliminate transit damage.
- Installations & Collections Support: Step in to assist logistics and styling teams on-site at client properties when needed—supporting the delivery, assembly, placement, and collection of staging furniture.
- Container Offloading Across Sites: Assist with the manual offloading and processing of freight containers at main hubs and alternative storage sites as operational needs dictate.
- Returns & Claims Processing: Identify defective or damaged items, log non-conformances in the system, and coordinate with procurement or designers for repairs, replacements, or returns.
- Warehouse Standards: Maintain a pristine, safe, and well-organized warehouse environment, optimizing layout for quick staging turnarounds and clear inventory visibility.
Key Requirements & Skills
- Exceptional Attention to Detail: An uncompromising eye for quality, capable of spotting minor imperfections on high-end fabrics, wood finishes, metalwork, and delicate items.
- Driving Licence: Full, clean UK Driving Licence with experience (or strong confidence) driving 3.5t vans/Luton’s safely and responsibly.
- Health & Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safe manual handling practices, warehouse safety, secure load-lashing, and spatial risk assessment.
- Unwavering Honesty & Accountability: High personal integrity with a transparent approach to handling inventory, reporting discrepancies, and caring for high-value client goods.
- Physical Fitness & Stamina: Fully capable of sustained manual handling, including lifting heavy furniture, offloading containers, loading vans, and working on-site under active installation schedules.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable operating digital Asset Management Systems, inventory management software, tablet interfaces, or handheld barcode scanners.
- Flexibility & Teamwork: A proactive team player willing to adapt to shifting daily priorities—transitioning smoothly between warehouse quality control, container offloads, and on-site client installations.
- Communication & Professionalism: Clear verbal and written communication skills for cross-team coordination, reporting issues to management, and representing Burbeck Interiors professionally when on-site at client properties.
- Experience: Previous experience in stock control, quality assurance, or luxury furniture/interiors logistics and van driving is strongly preferred.
