Job Overview:
We are seeking two Family Law Solicitors or CILEX Lawyers to join our Hartlepool office. The successful candidates will manage a caseload of predominantly Public Law Children matters, providing legal advice, representation, and support to clients throughout proceedings. The role requires strong client care, advocacy, drafting, and case management skills, together with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Main Duties and Requirements:
- Good working relationships with their colleagues in the department, Solicitors and Counsel.
- Good relationships with clients and to treat clients with courtesy and respect at all times.
- Instruction of experts, including drafting letters of instruction.
- Drafting Children Act Applications, Witness Statements and Orders.
- Preparing Instructions/Briefs to Counsel.
- Completing Legal Help and Public Funding Forms and assessing eligibility.
- Attending court to represent clients, both in relation to their own case load and that of other fee-earners in the department.
- Managing own caseload efficiently, taking account of cost and chargeable time target.
- Managing their allocated support staff.
- Working as part of the Family Department team.
- Money Laundering compliance.
- Attending departmental meetings.
- Applying for Panel Memberships as appropriate.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Thorough working knowledge and experience in the relevant departmental law to be able to act confidently for a range of clients.
- Knowledge of provisions regarding public funding.
- Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Good risk management skills, complying with regulatory requirements such as money laundering and data protection.
- Good file management procedures.
- Remain up to date with changes in the law.
- Supervisory skills depending on level of experience.
- Experience of working with Case Management systems.
- Excellent PC/keyboard skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and dedicated legal professional to join a supportive and well-established Family Law team.
Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications, with salaries typically in the region of £35,000 per annum.
This is a full-time position based at our Hartlepool office. Working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break.
