Job Summary
Clarkwell & Co is a growing accountancy practice based in Islington, London. We are looking for a professional, organised and motivated Trainee Accountant / Office Administrator to join our team.
The role will be approximately 50% office administration and client support, and 50% trainee accounting work.
This position would suit someone with an accounting, finance or business background who is looking to develop practical experience within a UK accountancy practice.
Key ResponsibilitiesOffice Administration – 50%
- Answer telephone calls and deal with client enquiries professionally.
- Greet clients and visitors.
- Monitor office emails and allocate queries to the appropriate team member.
- Arrange client meetings and appointments.
- Assist the Director and accounting team with general administration.
- Draft professional emails and client correspondence.
- Manage incoming and outgoing post.
- Scan, save and organise client documents.
- Assist with new client onboarding.
- Follow up with clients for outstanding information and documents.
- Maintain accurate client records and filing systems.
- Assist with HMRC and Companies House administration.
Trainee Accounting – 50%
- Assist with bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
- Assist with preparation of VAT returns.
- Assist with payroll processing and pension administration.
- Assist with preparation of annual accounts and working papers.
- Assist with Corporation Tax and Self Assessment work.
- Assist with Companies House filings and confirmation statements.
- Review client records and identify missing information.
- Maintain accurate accounting records.
- Support senior accountants with client assignments.
Requirements
- Accounting, finance, business or bookkeeping background preferred.
- Previous office administration or accountancy practice experience would be advantageous.
- Candidates studying AAT, ACCA or a similar qualification are encouraged to apply.
- Good numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Professional telephone and client communication skills.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Reliable, professional and willing to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality.
Pay: £25,420.00-£40,112.60 per year
