Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Clerk to Governors to join our educational team. This vital role involves providing comprehensive administrative support to school governors, ensuring effective communication, accurate record-keeping, and smooth governance processes. The Clerk to Governors acts as a key liaison between the governing body and the school, facilitating meetings, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and success of our educational community.
We would be aiming for 1 governors meeting per half-term and a maximum of 6 per year.

Responsibilities
- Organize and prepare agendas for governing body meetings, ensuring all relevant documents are distributed in advance
- Record accurate minutes during meetings, capturing decisions and action points clearly and promptly
- Maintain up-to-date records of governing body membership, training, and attendance
- Advise governors on procedural matters, statutory obligations, and best governance practices
- Coordinate communication between governors, school leadership, staff, parents, and external agencies as needed
- Support the planning and execution of governor training sessions and induction programs
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements related to governance and maintain confidentiality at all times
Skills
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under tight deadlines
- Knowledge of governance procedures within educational settings (preferred)
- Experience in administrative roles or secretarial work is advantageous
- Familiarity with teaching environments or educational policies is a plus
- Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information
