Head of Finance | Housing & Social Purpose Sector
Location: Bradford Salary: £60,000 to £67,500, depending on experience
Hours: 35 hours per week, well below the 37.5 hour sector standard, plus 6 weeks annual leave and Bank Holidays
About the role
Fortem People are recruiting on a confidential basis on behalf of a well established, values driven housing and support organisation based in Bradford. This is a senior finance leadership role reporting directly to the Finance Director, with a team of around 12 to 13 people across rents, management accounts, payroll and finance business partnering, and genuine influence over the strategic direction of the organisation's finance function.

What you'll be doing
Lead and develop a finance team of around 12 to 13 people, including a Finance Manager, Finance Business Partner, Management Accountant and Payroll Manager, and Income Services Lead, all reporting into you Own the strategic development of the finance function, embracing technology to drive efficiency and long term financial planning Ensure timely, accurate financial information across the organisation, including management accounts, budgets, cashflows, statutory accounts and property related costs Oversee external audit, funder and regulatory reporting, and manage the organisation's short and medium term cashflow requirements Provide clear, confident reporting and recommendations to the Leadership Team and Board
What we're looking for
Extensive senior accountancy experience, ideally including long term financing Experience relating to property or fixed assets Proven experience leading and developing a team of a similar size, around 12 to 13 people A relevant finance or business professional qualification, with evidence of continuous professional development A confident communicator, comfortable presenting to senior leadership and Board level
It would also be great, though not essential, to bring knowledge of rent and service charge setting or wider housing sector experience. Strong candidates from a commercial or third sector background with no housing experience are genuinely welcome to apply, it's what you can do that matters most, not where you've done it before.
