The Role
United Minibuses & Coaches is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Transport Manager to lead our operational, compliance and fleet performance functions.
This is a senior leadership role within a busy and well-established bus and coach operation, responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and fully compliant delivery of services across our fleet.
The successful candidate will be hands-on, highly organised, and confident managing both operational delivery and PSV regulatory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Performance
- Lead day-to-day fleet operations across minibuses and coaches
- Monitor service delivery, vehicle utilisation and operational KPIs
- Ensure resources are deployed efficiently and cost-effectively
- Maintain high standards of reliability and customer service
Compliance & Safety (O-Licence / CPC)
- Ensure compliance with DVSA standards, transport legislation and industry best practice
- Oversee maintenance schedules, inspections, defect reporting and tachograph compliance
- Maintain all compliance systems and documentation to audit-ready standard
Driver Leadership & People Management
- Manage, support and develop a team of professional PCV drivers
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability and professionalism
- Handle conduct, disciplinary and incident processes where required
Operational Improvement & Development
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce cost and strengthen delivery
- Drive continuous improvement across fleet systems, safety processes and controls
- Support strategic growth projects, technology adoption and operational change
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a Transport Manager role within bus, coach or PSV operations
- Strong working knowledge of PSV Operator Licence compliance and DVSA requirements
- Proven experience leading drivers and managing day-to-day transport operations
- Strong decision-making ability in a fast-paced, operational environment
- Class D licence and Digital Tachograph Card (required)
- Excellent communication, organisational and reporting skills
Desirable
- Experience in airport shuttle operations, corporate transport, school contracts or emergency transport
- Familiarity with fleet management systems and transport software

This is an on-site position based at our depot and transport office in Crawley, Lowfield Heath (RH11), Gatwick area.
