Buckhurst Plant Hire is a leading provider of plant, utility, and specialist equipment hire across the UK, supporting the construction, civil engineering, and utilities sectors. With a strong reputation for customer service, quality equipment, and operational reliability, we are expanding our sales team and seeking a results-driven Sales Consultant to help grow our customer base and maximise hire opportunities.
Job Purpose:
We are seeking an ambitious and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our growing business. Covering the Midlands, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire regions. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving new business development, expanding existing accounts and growing market share across the Plant Hire, Construction and Utility sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced sales professionals with a proven track record in the Plant Hire industry, particularly those who have developed strong relationships within the utilities, construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, water, gas, electricity and telecoms sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a business development strategy for your assigned territory.
- Identify, target and secure new business opportunities within the plant hire, construction, infrastructure and utility sectors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, utility providers, framework partners and key decision-makers.
- Maximise opportunities within existing accounts and develop long-term customer partnerships.
- Conduct regular customer visits, site surveys and commercial meetings.
- Prepare competitive quotations, tenders and commercial proposals.
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements to secure profitable business growth.
- Work closely with Operations to ensure customer expectations and service levels are consistently achieved.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports and CRM records.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and upcoming projects within the region.
- Represent the company professionally at industry events, exhibitions and networking activities.
Person Specification:
Essential
- Proven track record of sales success within the Plant Hire industry.
- Experience selling into the Utilities, Construction, Civil Engineering or Infrastructure sectors.
- Strong network of industry contacts within the local market.
- Demonstrable ability to win new business and achieve or exceed sales targets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Commercially focused with strong business development capabilities.
- Self-motivated, proactive and capable of managing a territory independently.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience working with utility contractors and framework agreements.
- Knowledge of Water, Gas, Electric, Telecoms or Renewable Energy sectors.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
- Understanding of regional construction and infrastructure markets.
