We are seeking an experienced and reliable HGV Mechanic / Fitter to join our growing fleet operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician to work within a professional, well-equipped workshop environment supporting a modern fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
The Role
You will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance and repair of HGVs and associated equipment, ensuring all vehicles remain compliant, roadworthy and operationally efficient.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical ability, fault-finding skills and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, inspections and maintenance of HGV vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults
- Conduct repairs in line with DVSA standards
- Prepare vehicles for MOT and annual test
- Complete job sheets and maintenance records accurately
- Ensure compliance with operator licence and safety standards
- Support breakdown response and urgent repair work where required
- Maintain workshop cleanliness and safety standards
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic / Fitter
- Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (preferred but not essential if experienced)
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
- Knowledge of DVSA compliance and operator licence requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence (Class 1 or 2 desirable but not essential)
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Desirable Experience
- Experience with trailers and hydraulic systems
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Familiarity with fleet management systems
- Experience working within a commercial fleet environment
