Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Chef to join our culinary team. The successful candidate will be taking care of tasks such as daily prep, managing stock rotation of fresh ingredients, helping prepare high-quality dishes, and ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen in line with health & safety/ food hygiene standards. The Assistant Chef will play a vital part in maintaining food safety standards and fostering a positive working environment as well as working with the Head Chef and FOH team when needed during busy periods.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients for daily service and presentation of a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards.
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring timely delivery of orders while maintaining quality control.
- Manage food safety procedures, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation practices.
- Contribute to menu development by suggesting new ideas and innovations in food presentation and flavour combinations.
- Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and ordering supplies as needed via the head chef.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant hospitality regulations and standards related to food safety and hygiene.
- Support serving staff during busy periods to ensure excellent customer service.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Background in food production, preparation, cooking, and presentation.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Good communication skills to help coordinate with kitchen team, front-of-house staff and suppliers.
- Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant environments is preferred but not essential.

The Role
- Current Hours : Friday, Saturday & Sunday - 17.5-20 hours per week.
- Additional hours & opportunities will be offered including evenings, private events & holiday cover.
Pay: £12.71-£13.50 per hour
