As a Band 6 post the applicant should have experience working as an OT with children. However, an experienced, highly motivated and pro active Band 5 without experience working with children would be considered for a B5 role.
We are looking for a dynamic, flexible and forward thinking Occupational Therapist with experience of working with children and young people with physical disabilities, to join the Children’s Community Occupational Therapy Team covering South Cumbria, on a fixed-term basis.
A degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy is essential and experience working with children.
The Occupational Therapy t eam enables children and young people with acute or chronic illness and/or disability to work toward meaningful occupation focused goals. They work with both children and young people and those who support them, creating an environment in which they can succeed in reaching their full potential.
You will expected to work as a member of the Children’s Occupational Therapy Team delivering specialist advice to clients and carers, education settings, housing department and other professionals in relation to disability and housing needs for children and young people with disabilities. Using the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) as a framework the Children’s Occupational Therapy service believes in using a top down, client-centred approach to address the meaningful occupations of the child or young person and their relationship with their environment.
The post holder will manage a clinical caseload. This involves assessment, advising, planning, delivering and evaluating treatment for a wide range of children and young people in a range of settings. You will be expected to provide supervision and support to the other members of the Occupational Therapy team including Occupational Therapists and Therapy assistants and students as required.
Our team provide an effective system of support and supervision, which may include 1:1, pair or group supervision, as well as participation with clinical networks, mentoring and other clinical learning opportunities. We offer excellent supervision, peer review and support for on-going professional development offering regular CPD sessions. The team have active links to the Children and Young People’s Specialist section (CYPF).
Children’s Community Occupational Therapy –
To deliver a range of commissioned community based health and wellbeing services to all children and young people in North Cumbria aged 0-19, working in partnership with other agencies also involved in the provision of care for this population in order to achieve and improve agreed outcomes.
